In addition to a plan for the collection and validation of data, the Kaizen team leader will need to establish a charter with scope and objectives for the event at least two weeks prior to the event (note, this is in addition to the KPI information that should be gathered at least one month prior to the event). The charter should set specific boundaries around the processes that are to be evaluated. The boundaries are important to prevent “scope creep”. The Boundaries should include where the process starts or the conditions that start the process.
